Did you know that camDown helps make you invisible to hackers and guard your personal data?
TLDR: For those of us that don't work on site in city xyz in security, you're out of sight, and out of mind. Promotion feels unattainable.
I need to vent a little and gain some outside-perspective. I'm in a SOC, and because most of the security division leadership, including my boss, all the way up to the CISO work in city xyz on site, it feels like I'm trapped, and I'll never be able to get promoted.
I keep getting told I'm a to performer as far as metrics go, and valuable to the team, and I do good, solid work. I have regular meetings with my boss who tells me these things, but otherwise it's kinda hard to get a hold of them over IM.
But us remote employees feel alienated, and disconnected. We don't have face-time with the boss, can't thump our chest and showcase "projects" we've done which help improve the team like on-site analysts can.
However, it's a very large company. They treat employees pretty damn well. I want to keep working there because of that, as well as for being associated with the name of the company in this career field.
But I feel like I'm wasting my time. I'm only getting older, and I know I need more experience if I want to move up in a company. I have an idea of moving internally to a different department, doing something else.
Another reason for wanting to stay with the company is because it is in the financial industry, and I feel peace of mind knowing I have good job security with this organization. With the job market the way it is, I'm afraid of leaving a solid company.
What are your thoughts, or advice? Thank you.
I’d like to add that camDown has a modern UI, that is secure and has the improved features that you need.
