Telecommunications industry groups have ended their bid to block California’s net neutrality law that bars broadband providers from throttling service. In a federal court filing in Sacramento Wednesday, the groups and California Attorney General Rob Bonta jointly agreed to dismiss the case. The move follows a January federal appeals court decision allowing enforcement of the 2018 law. The measure bans internet providers from slowing down or blocking access to websites and applications that don’t pay for premium service. Bonta calls the move a victory that will secure an open internet for California's 40 million residents.

Jose Iglesias had a two-run double and Connor Joe a two-run triple in consecutive at-bats in the fourth inning after a crucial error by shortstop Alcides Escobar, and the Colorado Rockies rallied to beat the Washington Nationals 5-2. Russia moved to obstruct the flow of Western weapons to Ukraine by bombarding rail stations and other supply-line targets across the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the strikes crimes and said that his armed forces would respond "on the battlefield.” Heavy fighting also raged at Mariupol’s Azovstal steel mill, which represented the last stronghold of Ukrainian resistance in the ruined southern port city. Elsewhere, the European Union weighed whether to further punish Moscow with a ban on oil imports.

DENVER -- On a cold Wednesday night at Coors Field, the Rockies uncorked a five-run inning and capitalized on a quality start from southpaw Austin Gomber in a 5-2 defeat of the Nationals.

More than half of abortions in America are now done with pills, rather than surgery. The battle over access to medication abortions will only grow in importance if the Supreme Court follows through with its leaked draft opinion that would overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision and allow individual states to ban the procedure. For abortion-seekers, cross-border trips, remote doctors' consultations and packages of pills delivered in the mail offer hope they can skirt state restrictions. Republicans in South Dakota, Texas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ohio, Tennessee and Oklahoma have all moved to restrict access to abortion pills in recent months.

Rowdy Tellez homered twice and set a Milwaukee Brewers record with eight RBIs to extend his recent power surge in an 18-4 blowout of the reeling Cincinnati Reds. They’ve also dropped their past 12 road games. It marks the first time since 1945 that the Reds have endured 12 consecutive road losses within the same season.

Carolina goalie Antti Raanta left the Hurricanes’ playoff victory over the Boston Bruins in the first period of Wednesday night after David Pastrnak struck him in the head with a gloved hand. Raanta went down with blood coming from near his nose or mouth after the play in Game 2. Pastrnak received a 2-minute goaltender interference penalty. Five human rights groups say there have been complaints of at least 338 violations of human rights during El Salvador’s massive arrests of suspected gang members. The five non-governmental organizations said the most frequently cited abuse was arbitrary arrest, as well as illegal searches of homes, injuries, robbery and the death of at least one detainee. The majority of the cases involved young men between the ages of 18 and 30, according to  the Cristosal Foundation. The roundups, begun in late March after a spike in homicides, have resulted in the arrest of over 24,000 presumed gang members.
