Banking on the population of old or tech illiterate people to allow them to make a fair amount of mining bucks on the side at the end user's expense, what a scummy move. Hope this really bites them, but their target population ensures they'll probably always have business.
problem with this is this will cause a serious trust erosion in security products
That might be good in a way, I think that it can cause some people to be extra cautious about installing anything off the internet.. and they will try to better understand what's coming in the application prior to using it

I feel like a LOT of companies are going to use this to get around pirating and profit off of free users rather than nag them to buy a license. While still having subscriptions or something to earn most profit.
This is legitimately the most common sense use case I can see for crypto since it was invented
